Trump’s Approval Rating Falls to Career Low of 32%

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll showed US President Donald Trump’s approval rating falling to 32%, the lowest level of his political career, amid growing dissatisfaction among his fellow Republicans with the way he is handling the rising cost of living during the unpopular war in Iran.

The four-day poll, which concluded on Sunday, showed that 73% of Republicans approved of Trump’s job performance, down from 82% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted a week earlier. His overall approval rating stood at 35% that week.

Trump returned to the White House in January 2025 on promises to curb inflation and end foreign wars. His approval rating stood at 47% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in the hours after he was first sworn in.

Only 17% of respondents in the new poll approved of the way he is handling the cost of living, the most important issue that Americans say will determine how they vote in the midterm elections to be held on November 3, when Republicans will defend their narrow majority in Congress.

Levels of dissatisfaction among Republicans over this issue have increased since Trump launched the war on Iran in February, leading to a sharp rise in gasoline and diesel prices.

For the first time, the number of Republicans who disapprove of Trump’s handling of the cost of living has now exceeded those who approve, at 51% versus 44%.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online and collected 1,277 responses from US adults across the country. The poll has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
